Customer Operating Conditions:

China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. is engaged in shipbuilding, with welding machines directly suspended from overhead cranes. The hull components are relatively large, and workers manually operate the crane’s movement to accommodate welding operations. Traditional fume extraction methods fail to effectively address welding fumes; moreover, the facility includes a large-scale welding workshop with numerous workstations distributed in a complex layout.

Remediation Solution:

Existing overhead cranes were retrofitted with fume collection hoods to capture welding fumes. The hoods measure 36 m (length) × 13 m (width) × 0.5 m (height). The entire hood structure is constructed from aluminum alloy combined with PVC translucent panels, with the PVC panels being 6 mm thick. The complete system weighs approximately 5 tons, including the hood, power unit, roller shutters, and dust collection main unit. The hood body is sealed with transparent roofing panels, while roller shutters enclose the sides. To ensure adequate illumination, LED light strips were installed around the perimeter of the hood, enhancing lighting levels.

Remediation Results:

The air purified by the dust collection main unit meets local uncontrolled emission standards, as confirmed by an official test report, earning high praise from the customer.
